Torq-Thrust D Again
I'm looking at the Torq-Thrust D with Anthracite spokes and machined lip on the Tire Rack web site. 15 x 7. Has anyone recently put these on a 68 or 69 with stock calipers? Will they clear the calipers without wheel spacers. The salesperson at Tire rack has no idea and I have read many posts that say the D's do fit and many that say they don't. Anyone try putting this size Torq-Thrust D on this year?

Sometimes a 1/8" thick spacer is required to clear the calipers, on the American Racing wheels. I am wondering why your buying 7" wide wheels when the Vette came with 8" wide wheels? I went to 16X8 wheels and used a 235-60-16 tire on my wife's 70 LT-1 (or a Toyo T1-R 245-55-16 works well for our C3 Vettes.) Here is a photo of it with the 16X8 wheels and 235-60-16 tires:

16x8 TT-D here w/ 235-60-16s. No spacers required on my 73!

Kid Vette, thanks for the info. That's what I was hoping to hear. rcread, how long ago did you buy torq-thrust d's that would not clear your stock calipers? dosoctaves, I want to run the 7 inch width to give me a little extra clearance between the tire and end of the spring. My replacement rear spring has too mucharch. I used extended spring bolts to get the ride height correct and this moved the end of the spring very close to the tire. I want to keep the stock 15 inch rim size. I will only be cruising so I do notneed plus sizes or high performance set ups. I want the D's for their look only. The car is daytona yellow with a blck top. Should look good with Anthracite spokes.
