They can dry out and crack, causing a leak if car is not driven regularly. Easy to change after you get float bowl off. mds...

Your the second person to suggest taking the float bowl off rather than the entire carb. Had the carb off yesterday four nuts linkage and fuel line
whats the benefit off removing just the float bowl.
Thanks

Removed the carb replaced accelerator pump ( the old one looked fine)
tightened it down criss cross but not to tight then put the carb back it leaked. Took the carb off tightened it a little more always making sure not to over tighten and it still leaks. Whats up? What am I doing wrong

You said you replaced the accelerator pump.
What part number exactly ? Pump arm, pump cover, pump spring ?
Did you replace the diaphragm ? This is the part which makes the pump leakproof.
Are you sure the leak is coming from the accelerator pump and not from the fuel bowl gasket.
It's a common leak and it can sometimes looks like the leak is coming from the pump arm, because it's the lowest point of the carb...
When you removed the fuel bowl, did you re-use the old gasket ?

Sorry, I replaced the diaphragm and removed the whole carb. The screws can easily strip out so I put the carb on an off several times.
I am probably doing this *** end backwards but better safe the sorry.
Almost thought I had it fixed at idell it work great even a little gas it work but when I stomped on it it squirt out from the arm.Took it off
tightened it a bit more an it got worse.
My next step is to see if it is warped.
