I just bought a 1970 Corvette this morning. My husband pulled on the hoodrelease cable and it just snapped off. I was hoping that somebody could tell me how I can open up the hood without the cable.
I know how to open a 76 hood. I assume a 70 is the same. I have never had a 70, they have a wiper door don't they? I would think you would need to open it first. There is a rubber grommet in the wiper compartment on the far left side. Pop it out and you can open the latch with flat blade screw driver.
Hi L22,
C3G's hint and pictures will work on your 70, too.
You can also lay on the ground and reach way up past the firewall and trip the lever on the driver's side latch with your hand.
NEW 70.... NICE!!!!
Regards,
Alan

props to c3_guy for those pics. I've got the same problem with my '76, and these are the first good pics I've seen for the '76. as soon as I get mine open, I'll upload my method with pics. I have about 3 hairs left before i've pulled out all my hair over this.
After your get it fixed, take your old cable and make an emergency release. It can hang down for easy access if needed, but be out of the way and almost unnoticable.
