Default Underhood power source?

Can anyone tell me a clean, safe 12V power source on a '71 to wire an electric choke? Hoping for as close to the intake, as possible, rather than wire from the fuse box...

Thanks, in advance,

You can get switched power from wiper motor- check for yellow wire w/ power key on.

If you don't want to run to the IGN tab in the fuse box, which keeps the choke hot only in the run position, (and crank, low draw and heater type element doesn't care), then your next best bet is the yellow wiper feed. It's direct hooked to ACC. Just note your choke will be hot if you turn the key backwards for any reason. Choke would be hot in Run with either IGN or ACC regardless. C.

On '72 there is a tan wire that is ignition switched that you may not be using. I don't have my schematic handy, but I have a '72 harness in my '69. I think '71 also had this tan wire. I used it as the "hot" side of torque converter lockup for my 700R4 conversion.

On a 4 speed you can use the pink wire in the backup lamp connector. It should be just below where the throttle cable comes through the firewall and runs down to the trans.
pink and green wires in a 2 wire connector.
