Default 1978 electrical questions

Hello!

I am the proud new owner of a 35,000 mile 1978 Pace Car (that will join its younger brother- my 2008 C6- in the garage).

I have never owned a C3 so every day is a learning experience and need some help from the group.

I noticed that when I turn the key to the "run" position the blower motor runs very slowly. You can turn the blower speed up or down and the speed does not change. However, after you start the car the motor works as designed (the speed changes based on your selection). My question is if this is normal? Someting tells me it is not, but wanted to check.

Also, the horns are not working. They were unplugged and upon connecting them they blow all the time. I found a ton of info on this and will try fixing it before I ask more questions.

Thank you!
Dan

The blower motor will run all the time the key is on. Even when the switch is selected to off, it still runs. There's a thread here someplace that has the GM schematic posted- shows the entire circuit.

You probably have a T&T column- pop the horn button off and there are 3 screws that hold the retainer. I'll guess that the retainer is shorted or broken. Could be the contact has come out of the socket and grounded too.
