That should not be an issue. Sometimes the wiring harnesses are not correct either. Sometimes the wires are a bit longer or shorter or pulled out of the main harness in a slightly different area. Sometimes the drawings are NOT correct...and revised pages may not have been included when this manual was printed. In 1977, GM had TWO differnt types of A/C systems. The "early" design was the old style V.I.R..(valve in receiver)..then they changed to the CCOT (clutch cycling oriface tube) system. Also they installed the alarm system arming/disarming switch in the left fender...then changed it to the backside of the left door lock cylinder.
Just route your wiring and don't sweat the small stuff....and do not be surprised...if you may need to unwrap the wire harness tape and re-wrap it so the wires will route and connect correctly. I have done that more times than I can count. Just be thankful that you can get new wiring....even if it is off a bit.
Something I tell my customers..."When buying aftermarket/reproduction parts...often times...but not ALWAYS... these companies engineer it to 95% correct...and to get that last 5%...to make it RIGHT...takes 95% of my time."

WHY? Once again...the manuals that were authorized by GM to reproduce are what GM gave them. The "early" manual may not have been given to the companies to reproduce..because GM threw away teh pages that NO LONGER mattered in assembly....much like the wiring harness diagrams...that have mistakes in them...but are being reproduced as like GM authorized.....mistakes and all. You have the information in your book that will GUIDE you...even if it does not match your car EXACTLY...it is going to be up to you do figure things out that do not match up...because your year model is a "split-year" where design changes occured. UNLESS you are lucky enough to find an employee who worked for GM...who has the manual...that has the pages that were discarded due to revisions....and these manuals are not as perfect as some may think.
