Earlier, I asked about stripping powdercoating off an NOS lt-1 intake because it looked like silver paint. I tried a section at the back and found out that it was clear powdercoating only. I really don't like the look of it, because like I said, it looks like silver paint. Is there any advantage to leaving it on there? Will it turn yellow like clearcoat will on an engine? Thanks a lot.
Not if its a good quality powdercoat. They bake the stuff at 400F+, so a couple hundred degrees of engine heat isn't going to bother it.
But beware if you have exhaust crossover ports on your intake manifold.
Exhaust gases temperature is much hotter than 400°F and could slightly bake your paint near these ports,
or at least yellow it...
