carb replacement
The carb that was on the car when I bought the car decodes to a 71 350 truck carb. Not only does it appear to not be large enough it doesn't quite fit right on the intake (has some wierd linkage).
The car came with what I was told was the original carb but it decodes to a 68 427. Pretty close, so I took it in to get it rebuilt and was told and witnessed, that the threads for the fuel inlet are stripped and pretty much unrepairable. He said that a helicoil could be put in but Im thinking once that is done the rebuild is going to cose the same as a new one and not be original anyways.
Since the carbs I have are not original I was wondering what people thought were some alternative and good options?
Should I go with a place like chicago corvette supply that has carbs for my year that are remanufactured?

219$ seems fair but I assume I have to pay shipping to send in core and shipping to receive the new carb. That, I would assume, is going to be a total of at least 30$ more in shipping alone.
Is it going to be cheaper just to go a local parts store and buy a a remanufactured carb?
If I try to sell the carb on ebay with the stipulation of saying the carb neds rebuilt and the threads are worn, will it give me more money than what I would get for a core charge by chance?
thanks for any answers

A rebuildable core for a Q-jet on Ebay will bring an average of about $25.
If the guy that is going to heli-coil your BB carb knows what he is doing, I'd go that way. I might have a BB rebuildable core (not correct for your year) lying around here that I could build for you for a bit less, but there would be a bit of a wait. PM me if interested.

I am sending you a PM on the fuel inlet.

He has built me several Q-Jets over the years and his carbs are excellent right out of the box and his service is top notch.
