Hey guys, maybe you can help me out. I had a 71 for 33 yrs. and the headlights worked fine until I sold it this summer. New owners were coming over to look at car and I tried out everything to make sure it worked. Turn signals, brake lights, heater & a/c ect. Even the headlights went up and down.
They took it out for a test drive and when they got back they tried the headlights and they went up but not down. For 33 yrs. they worked fine. Any ideas what to look for that maybe the problem. They snap up fine. But he is having to manually close them everytime he uses them.
I still have a Vette. I bought a C5 roadster and I lurk over here every so often but if you have any ideas that could help me out it would be great.
No, we checked the over-ride switch under the column and it wasn't that. Got good vacuum from the intake and the check valve works.
I'm trying to troubleshoot this from 530 miles away now. It bothers me that I didn't had a bit of trouble in 33 yrs. and I sold it to someone and this happens. But keep the ideas coming as you guys have helped before.
Have them pull off the little hose at one of the headlight relays and see if there is vacuum there. You must have a vac signal there for the headlights to go down.
