I have a standard muncie shifter, chrome handle with "t" pull up reverse and was wondering the steps to adjust the shifter. It is on my 72. It seems the shifter hits the shifter bezel in 1st and 3rd.
Thanks
Dave
Hi H67,
If your metal working abilities are limited, (like mine),you can make the guage that Roger showed (and you need) from a stiff plastic putty knife from the hardware store!

Alan
Never noticed that was missing. It started out as 3/4" wide putty knife. I copied that out of a GM shop manual. The .644 is the important part. Here is the one I actually use when the shifter is in the car.

Check to see if you have washers under the front of the shifter bracket (2) in picture.
If you do take them or one out.
This moves the shifter front to back.
Hope it helps.
Terry
