IIRC, a VW was supposed to be off the ground, like wheels hanging, before I would pump the grease in for a chasis lube. I am probably going under the rear of my car this weekend on other projects, and would like to hit the rear nipples with grease while I am under there. The question is, can I use my ramps and grease with the weight of the car on the wheels, or do I need to put the rear on jack stands so the wheels are hanging?
Thanks,
PK
Edit: Thinking about it, I do have one of them there "service manuals" at home. If no one feels like responding, don't worry about it as I'm gonna take a wild guess that my answer will be contained somewhere in that ratty old manual.

What are you lubing in the back? Except for half shaft u-joints, which I was never successful in greasing on the car and have since gone to non-zerked units, and maybe the u-joint diff (which the same comment applies) their ain't nothing there. And if you got the fitting for putting grease in the rear wheel bearings, that isn't a good idea either. The're meant to have the correct amount of grease to start with and too much is just going to create trouble. As far as the front zerks, I always FWIW, have the wheels off the ground.
Park brake cable pulleys, replacement U-joints (if they have Zerk fittings), check differential lube level, check condition of driveline seals....that's about it.
