Friday Night...Raining...Hood Insulator Install!!
Got my new hood insulator at Corvette Expo. It's really crappy outside so if I can't get the Vette's out to go to a local cruise-in, why not do some work.
Tool needed to remove retainers.
Works kinda like this. (pic is with new insulator already installed)
Old insulator. Believe me, the pic doesn't do the grime justice.
Placed the old insulator on the new to mark approx. hole locations.
Put new insulator in and popped retainers in place and here it is.
I am going to put mine on also but waiting on the retainers from ZIP. They have been on back order since July? Hopefully they will come before next summer!
I have a '73 with no insulator. I bought an insulator and all the fasteners. I have had it for a year without putting it on yet. I'm not too excited about glueing 11 big fasteners to the underside of the hood as it is freshly painted. Any ideas of what to use to secure the fasteners to the underside of the hood?

I'm not really sure what mine are secured with. Looked like some kind of epoxy.
That question would make for a new thread. Post it and see what kind of replies you get.
This classic car "wrenching" is all kinda new to me. When I got my '75, 6 years ago, the engine work was already done. I hired the paint/body work done. A friend and fellow Vette owner has been doing work on cars/Vette's most of his life and shows me what to do or let's me help him work on my Vette, as long as I don't get in the way.
The hood insulator is a no brainer. Retainers were already in place.
