Default Radiator Support

My radiator support in my 80 (manual trans.) was rotted out and I have another one out of an 82. Will a radiator for a manual trans fit properly in the 82 support or should I replace the radiator with an auto trans. radiator? I need a new radiator, so I just want to make sure what I get fits right. Also, is there anything else I need to be aware of in changing the support from an 80 to 82?

Look up core supports and see if the part is the same on both years and do the same on radiators. I dont think auto or manual should matter on fit. Just is with or without trans cooler.

I know the part numbers are different. The 82 support has a V shape at the top for the air inlet. I'm not sure if that is the only difference. It looks like the support for the 80 is the same for auto or manual type radiators. So, I'm guessing that the 82 support should work for the manual radiator also.

With the V at the top of the support the factory air intake plastic shrouding will no longer fit in place.

I'm switching to TPI, so I'm going to have to figure something else out for the air intake anyways.

Looks like we're both going through pretty much the same with our 80's; powdercoated frame, 383, TPI, dual fans, F/R composite springs etc. I'm just about ready to get the body back on the chassis.
