anybody have any ideas on how to ground a new pmgr starter on a 70 BB.My friends car had the facetory ground strap that went from the old original starter mounting bracket to the inside of the passengers engine mount perch.Don't have the the pmgr yet but how will we ground to the new starter? Is there a spot we can just bolt it on because the new pmgr is smaller than the old GM starter, what to do?Thank you
I just run the ground wire from the frame to the block. I use the same hole that the starter brace was bolted to. The starter will ground itself through the block. I have had it like this for years with no problems.
So the ground cable that was attached to the old starter mounting bracket is for the engine not so much the starter,so i should just attach that cable back to the block minus the old starter bracket because I will not be using the old bracket with the new pmgr starter?

Thats usually good enough , but make sure both ends are clean and make good contact.
I always use a 0 gauge cable from the battery neg terminal to the frame, and make sure it is clean and I spread dielectric grease on the frame connection.
I have seen many cars with an extra ground cable going from one of the starter mounting bolts over to the frame. You cant have too many grounds.
I've also seen the neg cable go directly from the battery neg terminal all the way up to a tapped hole on the starter case.

That is the way I have it. I use a star washer under the cable in order to get a good ground. Leave the bracket off as you will not be using it with the new starter.
