On my 73 convertible, someone had installed a Edlebrock Torker intake manifold and Eldebrock carb. Now, the position of the clamp & bracket for the accelerator cable (mounted on the left rear stud of the carb) is set-back further than where it was when the OEM intake manifold & Quadrajet was installed. (In other words, this new position of the cable bracket is effectively closer to the firewall by about two inches). The net result is that the cable is too long, and has a considerable "bend" in it. This now means that when pushing the accelerator pedal with your foot, the cable won't fully open the carb throttle (won't open the 4bbls all the way). Is there some kind of special bracket that I can install that will compensate for the accelerator cable brkt being so far back? Or alternately, is there a special adapter bracket and ball stud that can be installed at the ball stud (on the left front of the carb that the press-fit accelerator cable pushes onto) which will effectively move forward the ball stud? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

You could use the one Edlebrock sells for the carb. That's what I did. Or get rid of the Torker manifold and use a dual plane one, which is what should be run on the street.
I have this on my car and just installed it on another forum members car. Nice setup and lots of adjustability
Gordon,
Would you have a pic of that setup? On my 1974 the cable assembly is not adjustable. I have a minor off-idle problem that I think can be solved by tightening up on a stretched cable. As well my carpet and Weatherboot is limiting pedal travel and WOT carb/transmission kickdown operation. Your solution is more elegant/tweakable than just buying a new cable.
