SOmeone recommended the Crower 239 for my 82 L83, then I got another recommendation for a Comp 268. Which one is better? Will my lights/brakes still work with the Comp 268, and will it idle?
Jman////get a back issue of Super chevy magazine april 1998 issue, great article on cams for 350 chevy......the comp cam 268 produced 380 HP @ 5400 RPM with a 5800 rpm max & 403 ft lbs of tourque at 4100 rpm & 16 in of vacuum that is excellant...........was rated as an excellant choice for a 350 chevy :yesnod:
Some of the best information you can hope to find is just a phone call away. Pick a cam manufacturer, I use CompCam now, take about 30 minutes of your life and call the tech line. Explain what your intentions are for the engine/car, tell them your car needs some idle vacuum and let them make professional suggestions.
Will do. Thanks for the recommendations. I am leaning towards the Comp 268 now, but I will call CompCams to confirm the vacuum pressure will be sufficient for the street application. 380HP, wow!
HEEELP !! I'm getting too many different answers here!!
I just got off the phone with CompCams. Here's what they recommended for the 350 crossfire, after askling them what is the absolute highest performing cam I can put in there without sacrificign too much vacuum pressure :
Comp 12-256-4 : will provice a 30-35 HP increase in horsepower. (WEAK)!!
