I have a 1980 5.7L. So when i go to start i just get a few slow cranks and then it stops and i hear a buzz coming from around the starter area. If i leave the car for a day the battery dies and i have to use jumper cables.
Try a fully charged battery. A low volt battery will make the solenoid do that buzz thing or may even get it to clank against the flywheel/flexplate but not have the power to turn the engine over.
If you are saying that with a new charged battery the car can only sit a few days before the battery is completely drained then you have an electrical issue somewhere.

After you jump start the car, it needs to be driven for awhile to charge the battery back up or use a trickle charger. Many members who don't put a lot of miles on their vehicles use battery tenders to keep the battery charged.
Also, use a voltmeter (VOM) to check the battery output, it should be at least 1 volt over battery voltage. This is a fast check, it only checks voltage, not amperage.
As already mentioned, the battery could have seen better days and just won't hold a charge. How old is it?
I am thinking that you already cleaned and reinstalled the cable connections so it couldn't be that, right?
