The steering in my '75 has started pulsating when I make a left turn. I did add a little fluid a few days ago but it still does it. The belt is relatively new and is not loose. Any ideas?
The control valve might be out of balance, or failing. You may want to try to balance it and see if this makes a difference. It may also be the power steering pump but with you saying "only to the left" it makes me believe your problem is in the valve.
Was the fluid level low enough that your pump could have ingested some air? This would cause the pump to whip air and oil together. This could cause erratic steering until the air worked its way out of the fluid. After you added fluid, did the fluid still appear milky?

The control valve would be the most likely component to repair or replace. You could just disassemble it to determine what is damaged/worn. You can buy a rebuild kit for very little money. It's unlikely that any 'hard' parts are defective.
Mine was doing the same thing..ended up being air in the system,i got the front wheels off the ground then turned the wheel from lock to lock(too many times to count),but the problem went away.much cheaper than replacing parts!!I hope your problem was as simple as mine!!!
Well. when I filled the reservoir, the longneck bottle got stuck in the tight space and I way overfilled it and it spilled over on the floor. I took out the excess before doing anything else, making sure it was at the right level, and couldn't tell if it was foamy. I haven't had a chance to play with the valve yet (I was working on an idle issue first) but will try to soon. I will try the multiple turning first and then if needed will work at adjusting the valve. Thanks much for the replies!!
