Default 69 Distributor

I'm not sure how to go about this... I either change the distriutor or the tach on my 69. I'm not sure of the cost for the gauge or finding a distb. All input is welcomed.... thank you.

I put a ZZ4 in a 69 and I kept the HEI and had the 69 tach converted to electronic.

I went the other way and bought a tach drive distributor keeping the original gauge. I did keep the original tach though.

Just to clarify, when the gauge was converted the original tach face was used so you cant tell by looking.

I'm a little surprised that Chevy Parts didn't offer an option for a tach-drive HEI distributor on the engine you purchased.

Works for me Roger, I just figured it would be easier for someone if they ever wanted to return to the stock, much easier to swap out the distributor than messing with the gauges IMO.

Your absolutely right it would be easier than removing the dash.
I think both ways have their advantages , I'm glad my customer stepped up to plate and made the choice.

I would like to also add that my dash is already out... the guy I bought it from just put in a Tilt/Tele column and I think I have to unbolt the brace to get it back in??? It looks like a project getting everything hooked up or I need a little monkey..... maybe...????

If you are talking about getting the dash back in, you have to undo the two bolts holding the steering column in that are located about where the bottom of the dash would be located. This allows the column to drop down some so you can get the dash in. Be careful so you don't break the part of the dash that sits on the column, or scratch the column. It's one of those PIA jobs on 'vettes that you will only want to have to do once.

And yes, a little monkey might help....
