77 electronic tach question
Aside from that you can remove it here and we can put it on our tester. That would be a royal pain to go to just to verify the tach. One reason we always suggest people check the tachometers before installing them.
What is probably going on with your tach is the internal dampening fluid has probably leaked or dried out. This will reduce resistance on the needle and cause you a little issue but it should not cause much.
One easy way to spot a tach with this problem is to tilt it backwards and forwards while the tach is in your hand. If the needle falls fairly quick there is no resistance fluid in the electrical unit.
For you, unless you remove the tach from the dash, there is not way to tell. For us when testing our new tach boards on the75-77 78-79 and 80-82 tach's we could tell the units that had a fluid issue, the needles would just zing up to where there were supposed to be vs. the smooth movement of a good one.
