Default A/C Conversion

Can I convert a 72' A/C unit to run on the new mandated refrigerant?? What new parts are required? What will it cost?

Have been hundreds (well at least tens) of discussion on this. Just run a search for 134a or R12 and see what pops up.

I run R-134a in my stock 69. All I did was change the refrigerant oil to esther and charge the system. It cost about $25.00 :yesnod:

Check out http://www.aircondition.com they have several discussion groups that will cover every aspect of a conversion. Zwede (Markus Strobl) has some information on converting to R-134a on his webpages at http://www.corvetteforum.net/c3/zwed.../ac/acmain.htm
He has just about all the info you'll need on doing the job right!

My 75 has all the original air equip. It never worked since I got it. So i spent $35 bucks for a gage, fill the system with air. Waited till the next day and checked the pressure. Since it held I decided to go with R 134A without any other mods. Its been two years already and it still blows great cold air. I just checked the pressure after seeing your thread and Its still full. So if you decide to spend the $400 bucks it would of cost me for the local garage to convert maybe you want to try it yourself. Goodluck
