Tranny crossmember
Has anybody tried to put a cross memeber out of a 79 vette into an 80 vette? I tried tonight and the holes are out around 1/4" or more. Looks like i will have to get a bunch of cutting and welding done on this cross member. I was told it would fit, and bought it for the true dual exhaust ability. Getting tired of this mess, might be up for sale soon?

I had the same issues with mine. The holes weren't off as bad as yours though. I took it out a year later when I installed a 4L60E transmission. A modified BowtieOverdrive crossmember is installed now.

The hole alignments are going to change depending on how you jack the car up due to the frame flexing. If you can get one hole lined up on each side and get a bolt in, just enlarge the other holes until you can get bolts in. I don't think you need to go to the extent of cutting/welding to solve the problem.
