Need to purchase a good set of plugs for my 1980 L82.
A little modified. Has a Davis Unified HEI and Livewires. Any recommendations?

Default Is there something wrong with the "stock" plugs?

No need for a colder plug. Stay with what the General sold it with - AC 44 or AC 45.

I put a set of E3 spark plugs in my 454 the other day. They look cool, said to give 10hp, who knows, it runs good on the engine stand..lol

Try the NGK Iridium plugs - I have them in all my cars including my 67 BB and they are awesome.

Try em, you'll like em and they last and last!

Been using the basic Autolights since the 70's with never a problem. Just get a corresponding match up from the recommended AC#.

Yup, gotta agree. They work just as well as the stock plugs and only cost 5 times as much!

Most plugs work well in our engines. I stay away from plugs with screw on terminals (like Bosch) as the terminal has a bad habit of coming loose. I've tried NGK, Autolite, AC and Champion and all work fine, no difference as far as I can tell. I also stick to regular copper plugs. They are easy enough to change that the added cost of long life (platinum/iridium) is not worth it.

Went with what the General had in her to start with. The problem I`m running into now is header clearance. I have none. Accels were in the car. I suppose because they ere shorter, but only by about 1/4 inch. So I suppose I place a little heat resistant material between the header and the wire cap(where it touches). This only happens on number 3,5 and 6. I need a special tool to get in and tighten the plugs up. Any ideas? Cause a normal plug socket just ain`t gettin it.

I presume you have a SB engine...but it works with either engine, big or small....Next time try running your plug wires underneath like factory with the 90 drgree spark plug boots...similar to the Ram Horn manifolds......

As I stated in the original post the engine is a 1980 L82 SB. They are 90 degrees spark plug boots. The problem is my Hedman headers. Make the plugs hard to access without loosening the header bolts. I can get the boots on...its just hard to tighten the plugs themselves.
