Reverse Lock Out Not Working

Reverse Lock Out Not Working
I took my 4 speed, 1969 Vette out today, and noticed it felt "funny" moving out of reverse. When I put it away, I couldn't get it in reverse, and the keys won't come out of the ignition switch. I can put it in 1,2,3, and 4, but not reverse. Any ideas? Thanks.

Check the linkage at the trans. The shift lever may be loose or off. This will not allow it to go in reverse therefore will not release the key lock. The reverse lever is the one at the rear of the trans if yo uare not familer with the shifter.

Sorry it took so long to get back. I had a friend stop over today, and after disconnecting the cable at the steering column lever, and at the reverse bracket on the transmission, we were able to get the car in reverse, and remove the keys. The steering column lever was pretty hard to move up and down, so we squirted some Liquid Wrench on it to make it easier to move. It seems the the cable is stretched, making it too long, so I ordered a replacement from Paragon. Thanks for all the help!
