Default Engine pull-rebuild re-install

hey all, first i would like to thank all for the info they have shared.
Am getting ready to pull meh numbers motor-rebuild and re-insert, heart transplant if you will.
my question is should i pull tranny and all? this is the aproach i have taken with many of cars but never a vette. i am running a 73 4 speed and will be doing the clutch. it looks to me very simple to seperate them but prefer to pull the same way i put in and do not want to align shaft on install. edit, the motor willl be rebuilt, this is the ultimate reason for engine pull.
what do those that have done this think?

thanks in advance. this is a large task for tey back yard mechanic but am convinced i will take the time to do a cleaner job than i can afford.

I have done it both ways. Either way will work and for me both are quite easy to do. I am going to pull my motor again this winter and will pull the trans first then the motor. I have a lift in my garage which makes it quite easy. It takes me a few hours to have the motor out by myself. I have done it many times. Take your time and take a few pictures of it. They will help a lot on the reinstall.

From my experiance it is easier to pull the engine and tranny together as a unit if you don't have a lift.

Jack the front of the car up and place jack stands on each side of the frame in front. Then pull off one front tire as you will need to go in at an angle whith the engine hoist to pull them out due to the long nose of the vette. I have done this a few times with no issues.

Good luck.

a tun of pics have been taken, thanks. an all conects have been marked to the best i can do (73 has many that go no-were).
bad news on having to put to hoist on the side. dont have room, on the other hand thanks. will have to allow for this some how. was wondering about this.
keep em coming. that helps knowing all can be pulled together.
