How Difficult is it to Rebuild a Muncie 4 Speed?
I have a '71 350/270HP, 4 speed. The fork that goes into the bell housing is starting to make a loud clicking sound when the clutch pedal is being released after each shift. The rear tailpiece is also in need of a bearing & seal, as it's weeping fluid.
In order to get to it, I have to pull the transmission. While I'm there, I can't help but think that it would be a good opportunity to completely rebuild the trans., as well as do a clutch, etc.
How difficult/involved is a 4 speed rebuild?
Thanks

IMHO Paul's book, How to Build and Modify High-Performance Manual Transmissions (SA Design), is the best one out there, the others barely giving mention the Muncie and comparatively thin when it comes to the real meat and bones.
Still have that Italian M22 wide ratio gear set he sells on my wish list, if anyone is feeling particularly generous...
