I live at 3,300' ASL.........in a very dry climate year 'round.
As I am gonna have to buy a "carb in a box" for a new engine, I had a couple of questions......
We must have guys from Colorado, etc, here who can help. What is the fastest starting point for setting up a carb to work at this altitude, and minimize future tuning, after you open the box ?
Obviously the engine combo and intended use, etc, will have some bearing on that (ZZ383 or ZZ454 with more cam and in a DD), and the complete package will be dyno tuned prior to installation in the car, but generally speaking, I figure by being set up close to the correct spec on day one, I can save a few hours of dyno hassle.
Any hints you can offer would be appreciated. There are lots of guys who sell carbs supposedly set up really close to your specs and intended use, etc, but still, knowing what is really needed from those who have gone there ahead of me, would help me understand better beforehand.
Jets and metering rods are about the only thing to change on the Quadrajet for altitude. I do believe the carbs were the same other than those changes.
