Default Extending the Header Collector?

Forum: I have been doing some research on headers and ex systems.
I noticed that going from RHs to headers, a big loss of midrange occurs?
I built my enging to pull like a BB in the midrange, I don't want to give up anything at 3,000-4,000.
The counter to this is supposed to be a longer 3"collector on the header.
How much longer can I go on 1 5/8 Dynomax?
How much will it cost?
For a strong SB w/3" collector, 10"-20" was mentioned.
How long before I run into crossmember?
I can see where these are the details that make the really strong performing cars. I want to do this right the first time, or hopefully by the second! lol
Thoughts?

Merge collectors are best. You have guys on this forum like Gkull who made their own crossmember to pass a three inch exhaust system underneath the crossmember.

There used to be an exhaust tuner company advertising on here. They had a calculator that helped choose header, exhaust, etc. lengths and sizes. You might search the archives about this.

Have they updated any of the software dyno programs to handle any of these types of questions ?
