Default Door adjust

I've been rebuilding a '81 Corvette and just realized that the drivers door is slightly pitched and needs to be adjusted.

Is there an easy way to adjust these doors?

Thanks

The front of the door is adjusted with shims and controls the pitch of the door. The striker will only control the in and out.

So, do you have to pull the door to reset the shim? Or can it be done while it's attached?
Thanks!

Have you changed the hinge pins and bushings?

Hinge pins. Is that the S shaped hook that keeps the door opened? Have not changed the bushings.

Please advise.

The pins and bushings are the hinge pivot point. I just changed my pins and bushings yesterday. My drivers door fits and closes like a new car. The spring you mention is to assist in holding the door open.

Just checked the open door that rubs at the back. Held it open and then tryed to rock it up and down at the back of the door and there was no movement.

Need to find an easy way to adjust the hinges so I can slightly cartwheel the door, counter clockwise.

If you open the door about one foot and it moves up and down at the rear then you might need new bushings. Willcox part # X2499. If the door stays put then you might have to shim it.

Boy, it's been a long time for me on this but if my memory serves me correct to install more shims the two lower bolts that hold the hinge can be loosened, the two uppers have to be removed.

How to you tweak the door? Use a floor jack and a couple of 2x4's on the bottom of the door, maybe find a buddy to help you out too.

I removed the door panel, then loosen the 8 bolts total 4 top throught small access hole (6) in diagram,4 bolts at bottom. Have someone hold the door up then loosen all bolts then adjust door up or down at back end. I only tightened two bolts for trial fits once set crank them all down.
Hope this helps...
