Default 1980 frame off restoration

I am in the process of a frame off restoration on a nice 80 C-3. Frame and body were pretty much in perfect condition before disassembly, just normal wear and tear. The frame was sandblasted and painted and I measured and inspected frame, looks like never damaged and in perfect condition, it wasn't even dented or scratched anywhere. Anyway, body looks perfect also in regards to fiberglass etc, looks like it has never been hit. The only thing I have noticed, since the body has been put back on all newly assembled frame with all new suspension and parts, is that when I look from the rear of the car, the left rear tire and wheel stick out from the fender just slightly more than than the right side, maybe 1/4" to 3/8" max. difference. Most people would never even notice, and it is not really a problem, but do you think if I loosened all of the body mount bolts that I could slide the body over approx. 1/8" to 1/4" max. to align the right and left sides equally with the body? And by the way, I have already aligned the front and rear wheel alignment so it will not be changed to any degree. The front tires and wheels are slightly off also from right to left in respect to the body, although it is very little, 1/4" max. Just wondered if anyone has ever fine tuned the body to frame fit from side to side to align the above mentioned?

That might work.

Good luck.

Hi B80,
I agree with Mike, there's more than 1/4" play in how the body sits on the mounts, so you should be able to get the body centered on the frame.

Alan

Your now doing something the factory never did. Although I don't think the NCRS will doc You points for having the Body Over Restored cause its sitting on the Body to Straight.

I centered mine before I bolted up the body mounts. It's funny, I never checked before I took the body off but made sure it was centered when I put it back,
