I'm pulling my TA's and diff for rebuilds on my '81.
At the point that I'm removing the composite spring. I've done some searching and it looks like I need to support the spring before pulling the nut. Seems like the common solution is to put a jack under the spring. Unfortunately, I have mine up on 18" ramps and jack stands...so that's not really an option.
Any suggestions for safely removing disconnecting the spring with no jack access?
Yes Your going to have to support the Spring before You undo the Bolt. The Composite Spring can be damaged by the jack so You want to cover it with wood. A C-Clamp will hold it on. There is another way and that is to Jack the Spindle up and then Block the Spring so when You let the Spindle down the weight comes off the bolt.
