71 Engine upgrade.
Hi Guys,
I have a 71 cope with the standard 350 ci engine 270 hp 3 speed auto. I'm looking for more horses as i'm pretty much a novice can ye suggest suitable mods to beef up the power with suitable parts or should I invest in a crate motor and advice greatly appreciated.

What are your intended HP goals. Just a mild upgrade or are you looking for lots of HP. A crate motor is very easy and probably the cheaper way to go. A lot depends on the condition of your current motor also.

I installed a ZZ4 in my 1971 270 hp 4 speed car it pretty much just droped right in place of the old engine .
I think if its wasnt for all the clean up you could pull the old engine and drop the new right back in place.
This was my first engine swap and it was not that bad.
The power of the ZZ4 made the car a blast to drive.
