Low Alternator Bracket

I was thinking (yeah, brain damage) that it would be just different enough....
Currently have one of the Mr. Gasket header mount POS things that won't hold a correct position, so something is gonna happen...

The ad says it is for use with "short style water pump", which I believe is the Corvette water pump, unless there is a short, long, AND Corvette style pump. It pretty much mounts the same way the p/s bracket does, but the p/s pump is pretty tight, I would be surprised if an alternator would fit down there. So what are ya runnin', there, anyway, just alt, water pump, crank pulley? I enjoy my p/s and a/c, but if you're man enough to do without, more power to ya! (pun definitely intended!)

I have a "service warranty replacement engine", and it came with a standard short water pump, so it lining up isn't the issue.
No PS, no AC. And although I have a complete PS assemby, it's never going on this car.
I'm not sure this would work (not much space there), but was "thinking"....
Might just spent the $20 and give it a try....

I'll take your word for it. They say ya learn something new every day, I guess it's true.

The bracket in question looks like it wouldn't be all that difficult to adjust the length of the spacers and bolts to line it up with any water pump you pleased; whether or not it will physically fit in the space provided is the real issue here. Here is what I would do: study the available photographs of the bracket and alternator in question, and then, take your alternator and try to position it in the engine bay, just holding it with your hands, and try to see if it has any chance of fitting. If it does, then buy it and try it, it's only 20 bucks. If ya don't end up using it, it'll probably be just what a friend of yours is looking for sooner or later, and you can hook him up...........for the low,low price of 40 bucks!

Here's an idea that might be kinda cool, but then again, might just be more of a pain in the neck than its worth: get your hands on serpentine belt pulleys for the water pump, crank, and alternator. Then install some sort of tensioner, somehow, (Don't ask me how, I don't even know if this is feasible. I don't even know if anybody makes a serp belt that short.) and bam! One pretty cool setup! Or, you could just chuck a belt on it and drive it. I'm just throwing it out there.

Don't think it will work, do you have power steering?
