Default Differential Bushing Removal

I'm trying to remove the bolt that secures the bushing from my '72 and do not have enough space between the bolt head and the drive shaft to do so. Am I missing something here. Several threads state you simply remove the old, and install the new - others state you may have to remove/move the drive shaft. If I disconnect the drive shaft from the differential, will it slide forward into the tranny enough so I can lift it up some - or does the entire shaft have to be removed? I only need about 1/2" more clearance. So close yet so far away!

a ring spanner should fit in there with the drive shaft in place, but if not then just undo the 4 bolts holding drive shaft, use some wood to wedge it up alittle, job done
