Carb number 17058204 is a Q-Jet off of a 1978 350 GM Truck, Federal emissions, C-10 pickup with air conditioning and auto trans. The carb is jetted stock with #77 main jets and #52 rods.
Being a truck carb, the rods in the carb have the "fat" .036" diameter power tips, so the big #77 jets are a bit deceiving and cannot be corrolated directly to the jetting in a passenger car carb. You can re-jet the carb with other jets and rods, but you have to make sure that you use the post-'75 rods and not pre-'75 rods since the lengths are different. The rods available from Edelbrock are the truck rods, so make sure you allow for the fat power tips if you use these rods for re-jetting.
Contact me or post up a note if you have any questions or if you don't know what I'm talking about - I'll be more than glad to go through it with you.
Hi Lars, thanks for the reply. How do you know this is a truck carb? Corvette black book says 1978 Corvette 350ci,185hp,at,ac,fd.I know this is not the original carb but the one that came with it had same #. :chevy

I was a bit hasty in my info to you.... turns out that the 17058204 carb was used in several applications, and there were several Delco application bullitins for it. Here is the complete application listing for that carb number:
1. 1978 350 GM Light Duty Truck, Federal, C-10, Air Cond, Auto Trans. Jetted 77 with 52 rods.
2. 1978 Chevrolet, Chevelle, Camaro, Nova, Corvette, El Camino, Caballero 350 Federal, all Air Cond, Auto Trans. Jetted 77 with 52 rods.
3. 1978 Oldsmobile Cutlass 305, Federal, Air Cond, Auto Trans. Jetted 77 with 52 rods.
4. 1978 Pontiac Firebird 350, Federal, Air Cond. Jetted 77 with 52 rods.
That's the WHOLE story instead of the partial data... the carb was used pretty universally as you can see, but jetting and all part numbers for internal components was the same for every application.
This info comes directly out of the real GM/Delco Carb parts bullitin. I have the entire book - about 6 inches thick - with all the real listings and part number breakdowns for every Rochester Carb. I just didn't dig deep enough the first time, and ended up giving you only partial info - sorry about that!
