after learning where to look for the code (I love this site), I crawled under and found mine, but am confused. On a 70 Coupe, (454 4-speed), I was told that the code would be a number followed by three letters, the three letters determining which gear ratio I've got. But...., the code I found on mine is 2AV8 12 68W. Thinking the first 8 might be a 'B', it looked it up and 70 doesn't show a code of AVB, all the 70 codes start with 'C'. I don't think the differential has been swapped, but if this code is for another year, it must have been. Any ideas on what this code is?

Reason: typo
AV is a code listed for a 1968 and 69 cars built thru August with a 3:08
Ring & pinion. LAter 69's and 70 cars did have a 3 letter code for the gear. In 71 they went back to a 2 letter ratio code. but no AV listed for 71
I don't guess there's any way a '68 (68W = '68 Warren?) differential could have been used on a 70 model? If not, it must have been changed post assembly.
