I found what looks to be like a momentary switch just behind the firewall of my daughters 75 vette. Any ideas. The wires coming out of it are white/black or yellow/black. Not real Sure.
I think that switch is for the alarm. You should have two similar switches in the doors jams as well. With the alarm armed...open either door or the hood and a horn (located at the rear of the car) should sound off.

Thanks again for the good answers. I decided the self destruct was a bit sketchy, so...I followed the wires and you both were right. Anti theft, anti tamper. I also found out why he had it taped and wired shut, kind of a loud alarm....actually surprised it still worked.

It looks like yours is broken. The threaded portion is prone to breaking, especially when used as the headlight door switch.
