Vinyl or leather?
Anyone know how to tell leather from vinyl?? I think I can but some of the vinyl is well disguised.

Can you get to the back side of it? Leather looks like suede, vinyl looks like fabric.
Some can tell by pinching and if the back side rub feels slippery, then vinyl.

Really, one of the neat tricks GM played on everyone in the 70's and 80's was the incorporation of vinyl to the leather seats. From 1970-1982 all Corvette leather seat covers had a leather center with vinyl skirts (bolsters). In black they will wear and fade pretty close, but on other colors as time wages it's war the leather and vinyl will tend to fade to a different shade.

If it's so hard to distinguish the difference.........why do leather covers cost three times as much? Why not just buy vinyl?

Touch. The leather in my 80 feels different (softer, for lack of a better term) than the skirts. Skirts are vinyl.

Fire.
Leather doesn't melt the same as it's plastic friend.

Wait till your dog is hungry and let him/her sniff the seat cover [come on guys...you know what I mean
]. If the dog wants to eat the seat cover, its leather.
