Default Summit 600CFM Carb for C3?

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SU...S/?image=large

I'm looking at getting a replacement carburetor rather than rebuilding the Edelbrock Performer 600CFM I have on right now. This Summit M08600VS carb is only $259 and based off the Holley 4010 with the design flaws from the original 4010 worked out. Summit states that this carb is in fact manufactured by Holley.

Does anyone have experience with this carb? At only $259 and free shipping, this looks like a great deal.

This will be going on a L48 350 that is bored .030 over, with 64cc Vortec heads and a performer RPM intake. Compression is 9.78 : 1.

there was a guy here running the 750 version of that carb on a hot 355. He made great power and said it was really easy to tune.

hopefully someone will chime in with more personal experience.

I'm afraid I can't offer any first hand knowledge, but I was also interested by this carb so I did some Googling.

From what I've read, the guys that have bought them rate them and are happy with them. Any negative comments I read seemed to be hearsay and rumour.

If your engine can't accept more than 600 cfm airflow, then it should be as good as any other carb....if it is adjusted to your engine properly. {Quadra-Jets, of course, can provide any airflow up to 750 cfm.}

I have had Holley 600 CFM for about a year now with no problems. It is used with a 1968 327 from a Chevelle.

I can't really help you there, but I'm also thinking about purchasing this carb either for the Vette or the Camaro, later on in the future.I have the Holley 670 Street Avenger on the Camaro, but a lot of guys, including me, have idle problems with these and you need to change the jets and do some other things to it in order to get the idle right.
