Hardtop glass date codes '68-'72
From Rick Bizzoco's 1969 Stingray Guidebook.
I've seen lists of every other part's date coding, but never that of hardtop glass. I hope this chart helps those using this forum's search engine.
I was working on a garage's burglar alarm system when a girl walked in and asked the owner if he wanted to buy her hardtop as she needed $125. He said no. I jumped at the chance, loaded it into the company van and have had it ever since that autumn day in '72. By the Brands Hatch green paint, (black interior) I thought it was newer than my '69 vette. But now I see from its date code of XX that it was made in Feb '68. I'm still learning things even after all these decades!
Unfortunately the scribble inside on the fiberglas belies that date code...so I suppose the glass was manufactured well in advance of the hardtop itself.
