Default AC Question

How much freon goes into a stock 1970 unit. I just removed all of mine and it was 2.4 lbs. Does that seem like there may have been to much R134 in there.

R134a wasn't placed in a 'stock' 1970 system...it used R12 freon. The stock system takes 3 lb. 4 oz. of R-12 and 11 oz. of 525 viscosity lubricating oil. I have no idea how much R134a should be used; nor do I know that it will work properly without changing some of the components.

My '77 shows 3.00 lbs. on compressor sticker. Do not know if your car would be exactly the same. It is easy to overcharge a system but 2.4 lbs. is not that far off. mds...

Oops 7T1 beat me again.
