I am working on a 68 BB 390, i got the car with no radiator, and ther is no expantion tank, no bracket or holes were it would go, so I was wondering if the radiator is cooper with a fill neck with no expantion tank on 68 BB 390, all original body panels ,engine and tank sticker so its a real 390, 4-speed, thanks
Hey LT1 kid, This is the radiator you need, we sell it in aluminum for 30-40% better cooling or we sell the exact original in copper/brass. Let me know if we can help.
Just installed a Dewitts aluminum Direct Fit radiator in my '69 427/390. Fits like a glove, their black paint job looks great, can't wait to see how much better it cools! Who cares about NCRS judging points. I stuck the nasty, old, re-cored, dented and smashed-fin original copper/brass Harrison in the box for the next owner, after I'm long gone. I'd rather drive a "cool" car. Besides, I really had no choice. Dewitts, nor anyone else that I know of, makes a reproduction copper/brass radiator without an internal expansion tank for my car. As John said, they do make a copper/brass reproduction with an internal expansion tank for your car. It does cost more, but doesn't cool as well.
By the way, I removed and restored the core support, mounted the radiator to it with new Dr. Rebuild seals, then mounted the fan shroud with new seals. The whole assembly went into the car in just a few minutes. No need to be removing upper control arms to get the fan shroud in.
