Phantom Exhaust Leak
local shop did header back duals with flowtech glasspacks for me on my 81, sounds like a BB at idle. Going down road sounds good, but makes sound like exhaust leak. Original shop and a master muffler both say no leaks, sound must be because glasspacks so far back (in factory muffler location). Love the sound, but hate the ch-ch-ch air leak sound that comes from the very back of the car.
is this just a problem with glasspacks? If I move the forward will that help? Should I just give up and go with different muffler?

I've changed mufflers many times, if you don't like the sound then change them, I would go with MagnaFlows. Like I said I've tried many and I like the MagnaFlows the best.

I know what you mean,the 82 I just bought has duals with flowmasters and they sound like chit. Good at idle but once you get in it a little the exhaust explodes.
Do you have an O2 sensor ?

I do have O2 sensor
pipes have about 600 miles on it
sounds like a leak, but is at the very back of car. I love the low tone otherwise.
again I have been under it and two shops have checked it out and not found any leaks
wonder if muffler shop put too tight a bend and caused this sound
