I'm about to install a Hooker super comp. headers into my '71 BB 'vette, and its a kind of job that I never did before, so I'm looking for every tip and hint that can be helpful for a newbie like myself. I just ordered a couple of J shaped 2.5 in. pipes from summit so I can cut the original pipes and fabricate my own to hook to the long tube headers.
My biggest challenge seems to be loosening the alternator bracket stud that also attached to the exhaust manifold near piston #1, I can't figure oout how to remove it without getting the whole alternator and power steering assemblies out, that seems a hell of a work!! .. is there any easier way to do it??

The alternator and power steering pump bracket will need to be removed for Hooker SuperComp header installation. You'll need some "shorty" combo wrenches for the R&I.
You also need to have the car on a lift or high up enough off the ground to stand the headers on end under the car.
I hope they don't have cattle guards or speed bumps over there - your SuperComps won't last long...
