anybody have an idea on what oil filter to use for the NCRS judging for a 1980 corvette please?

Possibly. The 1980 Judging Guide will list the deduction. If you currently have a correct PF25 on it, keep it until after judging. An alternative is to run the new filter between now and May and install the correct/original just prior to judging.
