My rear on the 81 is whining on decel, so time for a rebuild (and maybe gear change). Anybody know a good shop near OKC? I am hoping to save the shipping, but willing to ship it somewhere if need be. Thanks, Jeff
Mike Dyer in Dallas rebuilt my rear end and steering box - super guy who knows his way around vette's extremely well. If interested, pm me and I'll send you his number

No question the person you want is Mike Dyer. He's not that far from you, lives near Dallas. He completely sorted out my rear end including trailing arms, aligning rear end, building and installing HD rear from Tom's parts. Did an awesome job.
He'll be working at my house all week this coming week finishing a big project for me but you could be shipping your rear end in the meantime.
tracdogg2 on the CF. Send him a PM, email him at tracdogg2@tx.rr.com or call him at 214 717-8379
I can assume you have already attempted to eliminate the noise with a proper fluid change which includes the proper GM additive?
Well, long story short, I "paid" the Chevy dealer here to do it, but I may do it again myself, and use a little heavier oil. When its cold it does not hardly do it at all. It does not chatter on corners, but sings when let off between 45 and 55 MPH. But I plan to at least make sure the pinion nut has not backed off any, I have heard of people finding them finger tight.
