Default Turn Signals keep blowing fuse

I have a preplexing problem. Restored my 69 from the ground up with all new wiring. Everything worked perfectly except after about 1000 miles or so I keep blowing the 20amp fuse for the turn signals. I have a new signal switch, relays are new, harnesses are new. Lights, side lights and brake and backup lights work. Sometimes the fuse blows when I turn on the car and sometimes it doesnt blow until I try the signals.

One other wierd thing, My emergency flashers work front and rear but when I put on the brake they freeze and stop blinking. once the break comes off they work fine.

ANY HELP?? Im a going nuts. I have even unplugged the harness in the front to isolate it but still happens. I unplugged the back up light harness too but still blows. Im running out of ideas.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Check that you did not pinch the tunsignal switch wires at the upper steering column bolts. Just a thought

When you step on the brakes your 4 way flashers should stop. That is nornal. I would look into a problem with the steering column having pinched the signal harness. Grab the harness at the base of the steering column and move it and see if your fuse blows.

That just happen to me.
We found out about it when we connected the old turn signal switch wire instead of the new one.
We took the steering wheel off and tapped the wire where it was pinched and put it back on and everything works fine.

On my 71', there was a small screw that holds the bottom steering column trim piece to the column. The screw I used was just a bit to long and shorted one of the TS wires to ground and popped the fuse. Not sure if 69' has the same trim.
