I usually hang out in the C2 Forum, but I figure there are probably some of you using Richmond transmission in your C3's so just wanted to make you aware of this issue. Here is the link, to the other thread;
Thanks for the heads-up on this. I've had this trans in my car for over 10 years with out a problem ,and hopefully never will, but it's allways good to know about potential problems. Good luck on the rebuild.
What shifter are you using, Hurst or Long? Could the shifter be the culprit?
WOW! that sucks! I have a ROD 6 speed waiting installation in a Vette, I'm glad the 6 speed versions don't have this problem.
Richmond Gear "helped" me out after my friend Dave Herlinger found that the 3.90 ratio Vette IRS gearset had problems early last year. The guy also said he scrapped all the bad gearsets in stock even though some manager didn't want that done.
I hope they do the right thing with your transmission. Thanks for the head's up

This is their newer 5 spd OD transmission, you probably have the standard 5 spd that 5th is a 1:1 no OD. As far as the shifter goes, yeah it probably did cause both gears to go in together but the transmission should protect against this happening.
I Hate to hear That, No tranny manufacturer can afford that kind of failure. The Performance trans. Market is way to competative for it. Keissler will take advantage of it for certain!
Do You think it is a "design Flaw" With the new OD 5sp or a fluke assembly mistake?
Ive used the ROD 6 for 7yrs. Only problem I ever had was linkeage came loose because no lock washer or loctite. Fixed it in a few hrs and no other Problems ever.

shft22, yes I have the 1:1 5th gear. If memory serves me right it's so old it has Doug Nash on the side of the case. I didn't know they had come out with a new OD 5 speed. Thanks
