I have pulled my steering column apart on my 76 in order to swap out the lock cylinder mechanism, and I have noticed that there is some play in the column (up and down). It's in the column itself, and I recall a thread somewhere about tightening the column bolts up in order to fix this. Can anyone point me in the right direction, or tell me how to fix this? I still have the turn signal switch partly removed, so that gives you an idea of how far torn down it is. I just reeeeeally dislike the slop in there, and would like to fix it before everything all goes back together. Thanks!
Trevor have you searched for Jim Shea's steering papers? Looks like there is info about everything there. I had same prob. with '89 C1500 PU. Loose bolts deep in column were cause. good luck. mds...
