Has anyone moved the battery to the compartment behind the passenger seat? It seems logical to me for weight distribution, and the mod would be easy to do.

If you look down the threads, you will see the same question, if it is not here it is in C3 general or tech, can't remrmber which. After you read that post, do you really want to ask that question?

I am interested in this also and I just did an advanced search on all forums and found numerous entries on C4s, C5s and C6s but none on C3s.
Please direct me to previous posts.

Why not? It's a perfectly good engineering question, and I applaud the OP for his understanding of balancing out a chassis.
